- Matt's basic creed for the game.:
Ok as some of you may already know as a game master I believe in logic (some times a little to much.) For this game especially my two main goals will be to maintain a logical cause and effect system and a sense of rule stability.
What does all this mean you may ask?
Logical cause and effect: I like for the PC's actions to have noticeable and understandable effects on the game, that doesn't mean the expected effect but an understandable one. If a PC goes into a town and destroys the main place of employment then the towns poverty level should increase. If the PC kills the smart Outlaw that has been organising the local criminals then the local criminals should, at least for a while get less organised.
The purpose of this is to give the player firstly a definite feeling of effecting the game world and secondly reward players thinking about and planing their characters actions.
Rule stability: If the swampy ground north of the old mill causes all ground movement to be reduced to half this session then it should have the same effect next session and every other session unless a logical reason for this to be altered is there. The purpose of this is once again to reward players for planing and all so to reward them for their in game knowledge.
For example if your PC has travelled through the swampy ground before then he would be able to estimate that even tho through the swamp is the most direct rout to the haunted mine hooking around to the west through the dusty hills will take less time because of the more favourable terrain.
Dice in the box rule: All dice must land within the appointed "Box" to be counted as an official roll.
Rule 1: Marshals decision on a situation is final during game, if you wish to argue about how a rule is interpreted it should be done out of session in the forums.
No excessive Metagaming: Any metagaming will be frowned upon, excessive metagaming will be punished as the Marshal sees fit.
Sign up rule: Each session will have a limited amount of available spots at the table that will be taken first come first served. Taking a spot will require you signing up in the appropriate thread on the forums.
Arcane Backgrounds: Any players that want an arcane background of any type will be require to have a character history that explains why they have it. For example if you want to play a huckster you will have to have a history detailing where they learnt there skills and so on. The character history will be required before the character can be played.
The carrying gear rule:- Spoiler:
It is now assumed that while in town that any larger weapons (Rifles/shotguns/basically anything bigger then a pistol) and any excess ammunition (anything over two full reloads for carried weapons), explosives or food will be left at your current accommodation unless otherwise stated.
Why is this? Because it’s a pain in the arse to lug that shit all around town all day long and in some cases damn foolish (like with explosives for instance). If you are carrying any of these items on you while around town let me know prior to wanting to use them (like at the start of the day or tell me you are going to your room to get it ect.) Don’t give me any thing like “ow shit gunfight? By the way I brought my shot gun with me to the Saloon today for the lulz”.
The opposite of this applies to when you leave town, unless you leave in a hurry or state otherwise it will be assumed that you are carrying all your gear with you.
