| page 243 ARC has fading in it - Quote :
- Fading
Fading is the mental stress that occurs when a technomancer pushes his abilities. It happens when he threads a complex form (p. 239) or compiles, decompiles, or registers a sprite (p. 241). In game terms, Fading is very similar to the Drain that magicians suffer for their magical activities. Fading is Stun damage unless otherwise noted. The technomancer makes a Fading Resistance Test using Willpower + Resonance. Each hit scored reduces the damage by 1 box. For threading, the Fading DV equals the hits used for rating points. If the final rating of the threaded complex form exceeds the technomancer’s Resonance, the damage is Physical rather than Stun. For compiling, decompiling, or registering a sprite, the Fading DV equals twice the hits (not net hits) generated by the sprite on the Opposed Test. This applies whether the attempt is successful or not. If the sprite’s rating is greater than the technomancer’s Resonance, the damage is Physical rather than Stun.

Where does that say fading stun damage can't be magically healed?

- SR4A p208 Heal
Type: M • Range: T • Duration: P • DV: (Damage Value) – 2 Heal repairs physical injuries. It heals a number of boxes of Physical damage equal to the spell’s hits from the Spellcasting Test. Hits can also be used to reduce the base time for the spell to become permanent; each hit spent this way shaves off 1 Combat Turn (hits can be split between healing and reducing time as the caster desires). A character can only be magically healed once for any single set of injuries.

| So anyways, Shagrat's First Aid roll? Something like: First Aid [Complex Action] takes 5 (5S) combat turns. Each Net Hit over threshold(2) heals 1 box of damage. Patient is a technomancer - 2, Indoors -1, R6 Medkit + 6, + Diagnostics (Sprite R4x2)*, + Logic 2 = 5-11DP. * Maximum hits equal to skill (Medkit R6). Probably roll the Sprite's Diagnostic now so we know the Teamwork results; - Physicist carried out 8 launched of one D6 :
- 2 , 5 , 3 , 5 , 4 , 4 , 2 , 2
.
Hits generated here will add to your current total DP of 5 hence the above 5-11DP variance.

| So you're going to receive a bonus 2DP for a total of 7DP for the First Aid roll.
Following this First Aid test I will assess my health and bionode.

| Sorry to hear about the little one, everything ok?
Shamus if and when you get the chance to trawl through all this could you explain to me some of the finer points of your illusion idea? Just so I can be right in my understanding and proceed accordingly.
And Dan, could I get your plan for getting a vehicle into place for the run? Which vehicle are you using? Can it fit the package in it? Is it practical? Is it discreet? Is there anything we can help with to organise this?
Once the First Aid is done I can move on to more Matrix stuff and planning.

How can that help with your skill set or visa versa?

| I would use physical mask on both myself and Dash:
Physical Mask Illusion School Properties: Realistic, Multi-Sense Physical Spell Touch Range Sustained Duration Drain: Force/2 + 1 (round down) The Physical Mask spell requires the caster to touch the subject. The subject assumes a different physical appearance (of the same basic size and shape) chosen by the caster. This alters the subject’s voice, scent, and other physical characteristics as well. Anyone who might see through the disguise must first successfully resist the spell. Simply make one Spellcasting Test and use the hits scored as the threshold for anyone that resists at a later point. Physical Mask creates an illusion that affects technological sensors as well as the minds of viewers.
I could use the sustaining focus I have to maintain the spell once and actively sustain the other one. I could make another sustaining focus but at force 3 that would cost ¥30,000.
This was kind of what I was thinking.

| hey shamus, if you hit the dice button and choose D6 you can specify how many (7DP) and make your First Aid roll. Question out of interest Matt, if I were to 'remote control' the medkit via VR would i use command + device rating? | |

It's not a drone. It can't perform many of the required action for first aid of its own accord, it is primarily designed to assist a user trained or otherwise in administering first aid. So no. PS: Shamus you need at least 2 hits for first aid, so nothing happened.

Matt under Medkit it states they are wireless and may be remotely controlled.

- SR4A P 337 Medkit: The medkit includes drug supplies, bandages, tools,
and a (talkative) doctor-expert system that will advise the user on techniques to handle most typical medical emergencies (including fractures, gunshot wounds, chemical wounds, and poisoning, as well as offering advice for the treating of shock, handling blood loss, and of course performing resuscitations). The medkit’s rating adds to the dice pool of all First Aid Tests, and replaces the character’s skill if the character doesn’t possess the skill (Medkits and Autodocs, p. 253). It must be refilled regularly (usually after every mission, gamemaster’s discretion). Yeah they can, so a doctor could jump in and over see everything. But a medkit advises the user, it doesn't perform anything. What you want is an autodoc

| Anyways, so after 5 combat turns of First Aid Shagrat has alleviated 1 stun box of damage. W00t! "Thanks for giving it a go Shagrat. Something is always better than nothing. Now all I should need is a decent rest and I can get back to preparing for the run." - Quote :
- Stun Damage - Make a Body + Willpower (1 hour) Extended Test. The character must rest for the entire hour for it to count (forced naps and unconsciousness also count). Each hit heals 1 box of Stun damage.
So with a Body 3 + Willpower 3 - wound penalty 2 = 4DP (1 hour ext rest): First Hour - Physicist carried out 4 launched of one D6 :
- 3 , 4 , 6 , 3
.

| BAM! and the Stun Damage is gone! After a 6 hour battle with Hef, 15 seconds of First Aid from Shagrat and 3 hours of rest I am ready to go again. So compiling a Sleuth Sprite R7 for a quick remote task. Compiling 4 + Resonance 6 + VR Hot Sim 2 = 12DP. [Complex Action] : - Physicist carried out 12 launched of one D6 :
- 2 , 4 , 5 , 5 , 2 , 3 , 6 , 5 , 2 , 6 , 1 , 6
VS. Sprite R7 : - Physicist carried out 7 launched of one D6 :
- 6 , 6 , 5 , 5 , 2 , 4 , 6
. Due to the rating of the Sprite being higher than my Resonance (6) Fade with be physical damage.
Fade Resist = Charisma 7 + Resonance 6 = 13DP : - Physicist carried out 13 launched of one D6 :
- 6 , 6 , 6 , 3 , 3 , 6 , 6 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 3 , 4 , 2
.

- Compiling 4 + Resonance 6 + VR Hot Sim 2 = 12DP. [Complex Action] :
Physicist carried out 12 launched of one D6 (Image not informed.) : 2 , 4 , 5 , 5 , 2 , 3 , 6 , 5 , 2 , 6 , 1 , 6
R7 Sleuth Sprite scored 5 Hits! - Quote :
- VS. Sprite R7 :
Physicist carried out 7 launched of one D6 (Image not informed.) : 6 , 6 , 5 , 5 , 2 , 4 , 6
This gives me a R7 Sleuth Sprite with 1 task and causes 10P Fade where I resisted 7 !! - Quote :

Physicist carried out 13 launched of one D6 (Image not informed.) : 6 , 6 , 6 , 3 , 3 , 6 , 6 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 3 , 4 , 2 This leaves me with 3P damage. This is where the mage can use his Heal spell!

| so canyon needs a new set of wheels for the pick up.
it needs to be large enough to fit the crate. it needs to be conspicuous. it needs to be close enough to be able to take and return possibly without anyone knowing, if not need to find one that we can steal for long enough to at least be able to finish the job before anyone knows its gone.
ok for the mode of transport i need to run surveillance on the surrounding areas near the logistics firm. looking for a van or a small truck.
i will use the gts tower to run in hidden mode and scan the area with its sensors, as well as alternate the dragonflies in groups of two searching for wireless signals from vehicle nodes. ill do this during the night as to gain the cover of darkness as well as chances to find a suitable vehicle that would be more likely be there when we need it.
once a suitable vehicle is found ill get a dragonfly to tag it with an rfid tag. i will get the drones to tag a few suitable vehicles so we have backups incase we find the vehicle is not there at the time.
while this is happening i would also like to spend some time driving around looking for a place to park my truck for the swap of vehicle part of our escape. so ill be hunting down places that have minimal camera coverage and a place to ditch the ride we use for the initial hoist. this needs to be done quickly and without too much delay. (so using a van to grab the crate at the facility driving that to a location to ditch the van and transfer goods to another vehicle.)
any tweeks to this plan to refine would help. also feedback would help
