ok question.
im after a chat with jd it seems alternate form is a better choice for my character then ally.

the question is how do i modify the chimera to work the way i need it to?
the chimera page 51 + 52 of fantasy
requirements:

  • master tracker.
  • can fly or glide
  • limited like all hell but not disadvantaged.
  • less strength and more iq.

more updates on my god.
the god has a group of 'blessed' hunters. all of which are alternate forms.
each alternate form is different from one and other with different abilities and powers.
the hunters are all enemies of one and other and are rivals. they are all trying to be the best hunters and will kill one and other to get it.
hunters will inherit the alternate form of the hunter they killed.

any comments would be great.

I think I have the idea how to change things for it. Refer to picture for reference.
fethers are fur so that's cool. I just need ideas for the limits, advantages and disadvantages.
Also alternate form and template to equal 100 points of my character.

Ok Dan, i got bored today so i decided to try making out a template for your Chimera hunting form;

Were Chimera Template:
 

The basic idea here is, while not becoming a Chimera so to speak, the form gives you Chimera like qualities and improves your ability to hunt etc. The intense need to feed puts a decent limiter on the form by forcing you to kill and eat fresh meat every hour.

Take a look at it, i worked in the key elements you asked for. Either alter it yourself or tell me what you want to change.

template is awesome.

now im unsure if im reading alternate form correctly. page 84 paragraph 2

"if you have a single alternate form, it costs 15 points for a racial template
worth no more then your native racial template. a more powerful form costs
15 points plus 90% of the difference in cost between your native template
and that of your alternate form."

does this mean up to 300 points it costs 15 points or is this something we should be skipping due to having no template?

ok i have been reading limitations for abilities.
(same poison i use on my arrows)
through looking at the abilities and limitations i was thinking of having the affliction ability on the fangs of the snake.

paralytic venom [38]
affliction 1 (HT; extended duration, 100*, +80%;
follow up, teeth; +0%; paralysis, +150%; secondary coma, +50%)
note: the victim must make a HT roll after being infected.
failure means he's paralysed for 1 hour times the margin of failure;
failure by 5+ means he falls into a coma.
just making sure this is all right then ill be continuing making my character.

also ill take the one hour preparation required for alternate form with the weakened without preparation. weakness being uncontrollable.

So a progression of the idea.
Possible have a bow bound given by the God of the hunt.
Giving me the ability to use magic arrows.
Hindrance on the bow like an affliction of one track mind. Focus on the one hunt.
Then casting impaling spear with paralytic poison.
8 hours to prepare the arrows for the day. Requiring a physical construct to attach to.

ok matt. i have one disadvantage that you can do what you will with.

the hunters.
all the followers of the god of the hunt are unique in their hunting powers. all have an alternate form that reflect the hunter themselves.
they all have the goal to be the best hunters in the realm and will kill one and other in order to obtain more power and favour. (like highlander)
being new to this and only having the one alternate form my character is yet to find out that these hunters are after his power.
so if you would like to create other hunter characters for the enemy group you will have full power.
-5 for unknown enemy.
-20, -30, -40; a group of characters of equal power level as myself
*1 hunters. intent to kill.

let me know if you want me to build these im not worried about a neg 5 to be honest.

You don't have a template so the 100cp alternate form costs you 15cp + ((its total points 100) x.9) = 115

Before you ask this game does not have starting templates, you can steal templates from other games to use as concepts for building characters but they don't actually count as a template.

I will have to look this up and check the math when i get home before i can confirm, some page referances would be nice though.

Ok, this idea is fine. Have you attempted to build the mechanics for it yet?

ok i will do some math and such tonight.

i will alter the template a little more as i work out what follow over effects.
i will most likely have combat reflexes and a few others in my own character.
so dont do too much math.

follow up page 105.

i think i know what i need to do for the weapon attack. it will require a physical construct and may end up having scatter and or homing.
i shall work it all out.

I'm working it all through.
Healing is under talent.
Tracking is my own. It's in a hidden box.

I wondered the same thing when I put the points in.
No fine manipulators can make dx cheaper.
Math is most likely wrong.

This was all done late and I'll be fixing things later tonight

for some reason it has also given me one to strength. not sure why.


its all been done in character assist. apart from the groups.

the groups were just my short cut at the time to get things done.

basicly i want to have an un-parallel ability to track and find things.
i want to be able to use a bow and know how my pray thinks and how they move.

this is all i need. i dont know what i need to really do.

as for the beast. it is going to just rip everything limb from limb. then take the ability of the other hunters when it comes to that.

Nice Dan, as a note though it would be your family seal, not a royal seal. Also the phrase = motto.

Out of interest what language is that in the game world?

The language is elven.
The motto may still change.

Tell me more information about "the god of the hunt."

ok a few questions i guess.
is there any assumptions you have made on the elves or the god as of yet from what i have mentioned so far?

also modification with my character.

  • Forced Change (Full Moons), -10% (im not sure what book this comes from. it was in a template i found on the net)
  • Vulnerability Silver (x2) [-30] receiving it from the beast but retaining it in both forms.
