Nice.

I am happy for you to pull the trigger on this one.

Plant the cheese, Drop the trap.

In the hour before dawn Micken ghosts through the bandit camp, coating all the food supplies he can find with the concocted brew. The camp is on high alert, no doubt spooked by the nearness of the Kings Guard and Melchids escapades in the surrounding woods but this is nothing more then a minor obstacle to his powers. A double does of poison goes to the plate of food in Bolds tent. His sleeping figure, surrounded by empty wine bottles makes a tempting target but Micken remembers his previous attempt and sticks with the plan.

The sun is up for a couple hours before the effects of the toxin overcome the camp. Bandits are strewn every where, either moaning in pain or evacuating the contents of there stomaches onto the ground. The Spytors seem unaffected by the poison and are skittering around the camp trying to regain control of the situation.

From his hidden vantage Micken watches the skeletal commander issuing the order to break camp and retreat just as Lt Chucky charges the camp with the Kings Guard at his back.

The battle is short and bloody. The Skeleton rallies the Syptors and some giant spiders into a hasty defence, all the time shouting “Charlotte will drink the souls of any who flee!” With their mobility and webs they bring a temporary halt to the Guards charge.
Chucky regains control quickly and spurs his men on. Meanwhile Bomin and some of the more able bodied serfs take the opportunity to push from their confines and put blade to both the stragglers and sick.

The Skeletal commander stands strong in the middle of the fray, laughing gleefully, as his two long knifes dance in and out of the Guards defences leaving trails of blood in their wake. Three Guards lay dead at his feet before he beats a hasty retreat to the South.

At the battles end the tolls are taken and the figures stand at this; 12 bandits captured, the rest fleeing or dead. 1 Spytor captured all others dead. 45 of the serfs survived the ordeal. 9 of the Kings Guard are dead with a further 6 wounded. After the Kings Guard have claimed their loot, the tallied plunder from the battle is 4000gp worth of coin and valuables.

The Skeletal commander’s tracks lead off to the South East. There is no sign of Bold and an inspection of his tent comes up empty, the plate of food remains untouched.

.

This is what I took away from this encounter....

A few post battle suggestions:
  • Lead the liberated serfs first and back to relative safety, optioning a return to Blackwell Keep for those interested (I'm keen to put them up),
  • Erd make some lovely stone footwear and jewelry for our bandit captives to keep them from mischief,
  • Micken might want to stay out of sight and on watch for the trip home (closely watch the Spytor),
  • Erd's hunters try to track 'Charlotte',
  • Seek aid to heal the wounded.
Just suggestions as I said. Please add what you can. W00t! Monies! Now home for crumpets and tea! Tasty! Razz

Feeling somehow responsible for their deaths i will give all monies gained from this ordeal evenly distributed to the families of the dead serfs.

Cool, is that your share of ze cash, or are you trying to snag it all up?

Also from experience your character knows handing a peasant more then 4 gold pieces is enough to blow their mind with possibilities. They are a simple minded people, who more often then not will live and guy with out ever holding 2 gold coins in their hands at once. You would probably be better of buying supplies (food/grain) for them and materials for them to re build their homes. Handing out sacks of cash will probably paralyze them like the metaphorical deer in the head lights.

seeing as I can't make it to the session this weekend seems like a good idea for me to stealthily escort the prisoners home. Is the plan to take them back to castle Blackwell?

a sack of food/grain, a few basic house tools, some timber 2 gold peices and a couple of shortswords is what will be contained in these " care packages"

Math much?

Also, is that all we took away from that?

Anyone got ideas as to what to do with our captives? Thoughts on Charlotte/Bold and the news of groups organising against Blackwell?

This action defiantly seems to improve the mood of the serfs as they now wont have to scrape and beg just to survive but can return to farming ASAP.

This action makes amends for the killing of the bandits (5exp unlocked)

Sorry for the delay, big week, blah blah.

Slow session guys but 10 exp for you all.

Dan, Erd is loosing another 5 of that into stasis for killing the bandits. Until he can make amends anyway. I am going to start keeping track of this on your character thread some place.
