| Faraway: Realm Information- A brief history of Faraway:
Faraway is a medium sized island continent on the edge of the known world. Originally inhabited by roaming human tribes the area was renowned for its rich metal deposits and rare spices. Faraway was forcibly annexed by the Dol Seroth empire over 400 years ago and has been a cash cow for the Dol Seroth ever since.
Recently due to the decaying of the Dol Seroth empire, the territory has largely slipped into a state of civil war. Broken supply lines and large scale conflict closer to the Dol Seroth throne has meant that the remaining Imperial forces have needed to relinquish the lion’s share of control over Faraway, retreating to their primary holding, the sprawling city of Port Newland.
Meanwhile the remainder of Faraway has fractured into many splinter states, each under the control of petty warlords claiming all manor of title. Open warfare is now a common event with conflicts over borders and age old feuds being fought out with sword and axe in the fields, rather then with words in the Imperial courts.
The remaining Imperial presence is under the command of General Gavin, a stubborn old warhorse with a mind sharper then a blade in the back. General Gavin has refused to relinquish complete control of Faraway and has publicly stated that the current situation is only temporary, he branded all upstart Warlords as rebels, promising a traitors death for each and every one of them. During one fiery speech to the remaining members of the court he swore that the Dol Seroth empire would again be in complete control of Faraway before he retired his position.

[spoiler=Giants] - Hornet wrote:
- Although the rest of the world sees several types of giants, the land of Faraway knows only 3 races of giants.
- Hill Giants:
Hill Giants:
These lumbering flabby hulks stand upwards of 25 feet tall. The tribes are sparse and are never usually more than 3 families strong. They are herbivorous creatures that are generally quite gentle despite their menacing appearance. They are the dimmest of the giant races known in Faraway and are easily startled. they are the only non sapient of the giants tending to have the same intelligence as a sheep dog. The hill giants can not breed with any other race.
- Mountain Giants:
Mountain Giants:
These stocky beasts can stand up to 20 feet tall. A more moderate intelligence allows the smartest of their tribes to make rudimentary forges and weaponry/armour. These tribes, as the name suggests, live in the mountain ranges. They can have tribes that rival savage human tribes in number and function. A more aggressive race they tend not to get in most peoples way due to the nature of their homes. At times they have had colonies too close to an active volcano and have clashed with the far smarter fire giants, whose superior intellect and weaponry have made short work of the mountain giants. Although not the largest or smartest the mountain giants are by far the strongest. They can consume just about anything including solid minerals and silicones. These are also the only giant that can be mixed through breeding with other races, such as human, ogre, orc, gorilla and other. Their genetics are very versatile.
- Fire Giants:
Fire Giants:
Fire giants are the smartest of the giants in Faraway. The can stand up to 18 feet tall and are very heavy set. They tend to live in deep volcanic channels and mountain ranges. These giants not only have incredible intelligence for their size, being quite industrial like dwarves, they are also inherently magical. Tending more to the elemental magic of fire they are warriors to a soul. They are still not too much of a threat to other races as they are rarely seen to have tribes of more than 10 giants together. They also believe themselves to be the guardians of the planets core and stay close to the openings that spill the worlds precious lava. They can only breed amongst themselves.
Half Giants:
Being that mountain giants are the only Faraway giants that can procreate with other races there are only a few variations of half giants. Their sizes, depending on the race they breed with, can vary from about 8 feet to about 16 feet. They are often more intelligent than their giant forebears and can integrate, at times, with their other heritages society. That is if they are not chased away. - Elves:
The nomad Elves:
The nomads elves are the wild elves you would normally picture orcs being. elves are slightly shorter and considerably lighter then humans. they never stay in one place for long and tend to leave much death in their wake. by day they are your average plant loving hippy elves who spend their time communing with nature and avoiding society. by night they turn savage still keeping to their tree hugging habits but having the overwealming need to tear hearts out of creatures(animal or humanoid) elves do not need to sleep and have managed to attune their bodies to take on the properties of the great wood trees for a stronger hide, this makes them very easy to set on fire mind you.
City Elves:
The city elves have very little in common with their savage counterparts. they are both shorter and lighter then the humans they live along side but not as much as the nomads. they do not sleep, they can commune with nature as the nomads can and they can get the great wood skin on occasion but with the clothes of the day its very uncomfortable. the night cycle of the city elves is more of an irritants. they spend most nights alone and roaming the forests or working tirelessly on projects that relax them. the city elves are keen hunters and have are very charitable. possessions and wealth do not worry the elves. elves will where the minimum amount of clothing as socially acceptable due to the possibility of great wood sprouting from their bodies. the great wood tends to envelop most if not all of their body in an instant but causes no pain or restriction to them, it simply replaces their skin making it tougher.
- Gilf:
Gilf was founded on a series of small mud islands at the fork of the Pissa and Mezen rivers. It began as simple temple that the local hunters would give offerings to the Gods for their bounty. As more people frequented the temple a small trading port was established. The entire city has been built around the temple literally on the water and now, some twenty years later, it stands as an enormous floating pyramid (approx. 824 ft). The banks of the Pissa and Mezen are lined with floating structures used for residence by the populace (est. 12,000 people). During the occupation by the Dol Seroth Empire, aqueducts were built and formal canals established to facilitate the needs of local agriculture and river trade via flat bottomed merchant barges.
Gods - The lady of the hunt:
the lady of the hunt gains power every ten years and holds a great hunt among the mortals of the world. she picks hunters from all over the a realm and pitts them against one and other in order to gain a champion.
she has the ability to posses wild animals but only does so to obtain her offerings to her and to commune with her champion.
followers of her offer her the hearts of the kills they make to gain favour from her. power is offered to those who bring more hearts to her and extra is gained for the level of skill required to hunt and kill such prey.
the strongest champion she has ever had was a mass murderer who killed many with plague he is now his own deity known as death.
Notes:The map is a work in progress, all so if you find it hard to read copy it to your hard drive and you should be able to zoom in and stuff.

The Dol Seroth Empire see themselves as highly religious, and attributed their success as a world power to their collective piety in maintaining good relations with the gods. Dol Seroth offers no native creation myth, and and little to explain the character of its deities, their mutual relationships or their interactions with the world, but ecclesiarchy maintain that the immortal gods rule all realms from heaven to hell. They introduced many of their customs, laws and importantly it's religion to the then mainly tribal inhabitants of Faraway.
