The year is 1935, but the history is not our own.:
 



"New Orleans, 1935. The great depression is in the rear-view, yet people are still doing it tough. As a PI work is always sporadic, but of late its been harder and harder to come by. You teamed up with some other investigators, splitting costs between you to help make ends meet. The small jobs keep trickling in, keeping the business going. Now you just need that one big job, the one to make you famous."



I am looking for expressions of interest for a new game. I am looking to get started in about a month. Sessions will run on either saturday or sunday afternoons (to be decided closer to the start date). These sessions will in no way clash with Matt or Romney's campaigns.
This will not be your typical style of game, there will be less of a focus on combat, and more of a focus on solving the mystery. This is not to say there will be no combat, there will definitely be combat, the things that go bump in the night are no so easily dissuaded. However if you are looking for a hack n slash style dungeoon crawl game, this is not the game for you.
The spoiler above contains a short detailing on how the history of this world differs from our own. TL;DR The american civil war never ended, and the union and confederacy are two separate entities, and a great quake sunk half of California into the ocean, revealing veins of a new superfuel called ghost rock.



Deadlands Noir uses the Savage Worlds rule system, with three settting rules added.:

I am interested as long as your not doing pre-made characters. Because your shit at them. So shit.

No pre-made characters.
You are encouraged to make your own. Only stipulation being that you must take into account, in your history and skills, that your character is a PI.

Yes you can be the weird shit specialist.
You don't have to have been a PI for very long, in fact you can be very new to it. But at the start of the game the party is a team of investigators who have been working together for a few months.

When I get real internet (maybe tonight! SqueeeE) I will watch it but I've already spoken to Ryan about the redeveloped America and it's conventional history. So I'm playing a hairless film industry Pyrotechnician and Arson Specialist (Investigator or Instigator, as necessitated). Who is also Jewish. So Bunkstein and McNulty?
