L5R deadlands mash up idea.
Basic premises is this. take all the rules and generalized setting stuff from L5R but jam it into that twisted american history of deadlands.
So there will be this Rokugan/North America which is in a state of civil war.
One side in the north will be like the Union
Onside to the south like the Confeds
The clans will probably just become major power players on each side. for example Crane, Pheniox and Scorpion to the North. Crab, lion and Unicorn to the SOuth
Dragon will remain their enigmatic neutral bullshitty self. The minor clans will be a bit hear there an everywhere. Maybe Mantis will be running a massive Confederate holding in a place like New Orleans etc.
Huge gold rush and race to the west for gold and unclaimed land.
Ratlings or Naga or maybe even Dragon replace Native American tribes.
Tech stays L5R with, swords and dulling and bows ans spears etc. Maybe add more things like Stage coaches and steam engines to give it a more Western feel
The west is a lot looser and less traditional with back home to the east being more stiff necked and traditional like L5R setting.
anyway, thats as much thought as i had given it for the moment.
It sounded interesting in my head. Happy to hear thoughts from others.
A hundred years from now, D&D 99.5E will have pared the game down to four skills - Hurting, Breaking, Living, and Talking. Talking will be a dump stat for most classes.
