| List of holdings:Iron Ridge Region:Lake town fish market:Current Lord: Micken - Spoiler:
If it's fished up in the lake, chances are it will go through the market. The fish markets tern a decent profit, just don't stand down wind of them.Smoked fish is a staple of the Iron Ridge diet. While the hard mountain folk may be known for the iron they dig from the ground, its the fish from the Lake town markets that provide the bulk of the iron in their diets. Man needs to eat, so what ever the humble fishermen of Royalwell can pull up from the lake will be sold. The fish markets are almost a civilization in themselves but with your new title as "Lord Fishmonger" you are due 10% of the coin that changes hands here. The average monthly income is about 350g. The Old Trade HallCurrent Lord: Micken - Spoiler:
The trade hall is a musty old stone building in the center of Blackwell town. Traditionally, visiting merchants would set up here to trade goods for the local stone and iron. It was also the site of the original treasury prior to the construction of the fort. The Old Trade Hall sits in the very center of Blackwell town, its massive frame overshadows many of the neighboring buildings. In years past it was the epicenter of the iron trade in the region but these days it occasionally sees use as a storage place for traveling merchants. The building does house a decent vault from it's days as a gold store and also three prison cells in the basement. The building is looked after by a caretaker known as ol' Gampy and generates about 100g per month. Snowy Heights WineryCurrent Lord: Iven - Spoiler:
The ice grapes that grow in the highlands might be too tart for most peoples pallets, snowy heights winery however makes them into a surprisingly good wine. Harvesting the grapes can be hard, so the out put is low.The Snowy Heights Winery is a 2 day hike to the west of Blackwell castle. It is operated by a small tribe of mountain men who have been making the wine for many generations. While the base of operations is located in the centre of the tribe’s hamlet, the pickers travel far and wide harvesting grapes from wild vines that dot the mountainside. In the past, attempts have been made to cultivate vineyards closer to the hamlet but the snow grape vines are as wild as the men who harvest them and all attempts have failed so far. Once running costs have been taken out, the winery generates an average of 300g per month. The wineries profitability is tied to the quantity of grapes harvested, the strength of local trade routes and the popularity of the wine. Blue stone QuarryCurrent Lord: Iven - Spoiler:
It was originally founded for the construction of the fort, there was still plenty of stone after so they kept it going... yep.The Blue stone quarry inhabits a large track of land about a weeks trek to the south of Blackwell castle and is worked by the 100+ inhabitants of a local serf hamlet. The quarry primarily produces the blue stone for which it is named but quantities of clay, limestone and marble are also common. Once the running costs are removed the quarry earns around 300g per month. The profitability of the quarry is primarily tied to the amount of construction in the local region; the call for clay and marble is also a factor. The Lowland farmsCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
There aren't many good areas in the region to grow crops, too rocky. The lowland farms that run along the river are one of the few farm-able plots around. While the farmlands can't keep the region fed by themselves, they certainly help. The Lowland farms are a 10000 acre stretch of farm-able land following the river through the center of the region. As Lord of this area you are responsible for 8 separate hamlets populated by an estimated 600 serfs. 35% of what is produced in the region is spent maintaining the serfs and livestock. 50% is claimed as tax for the king, the remaining 15% goes to you amounting to around 8000g collected annually at the end of harvest. The profitability of the Lowland farms is solely tied to their ability to produce. The Goblin MineCurrent Lord: Melchid - Spoiler:
The cave networks of the Iron region have long been over run with goblin tribes. While the Goblin mine is one of the largest producers in the region it could be a lot more productive, if some one could get rid of all the damn goblins. Unfortunately the bread like rats and smell so bad no one else will work with them. On the plus side they will eat just about anything and they don't pay to much mind to the high mortality rate. The Goblin mine is located about 35miles to the south east of Blackwell Castle and has been operating "profitably" for the last 20 or so years. The goblins are neither an industrious or self motivated race, but the mine still generates a decent turn over. The exact number of goblins living and working in the mine is unknown but the previous lord estimated that they numbered in the thousands. Once running costs have been take care of and the king has taken his share it will generate around 600g per month. The mines profitability is tied to its efficiency and the strength and safety of the trade routes in the region. ** Improvements**Minor reinforcements and tunnel improvements -June 742DS The Moose head InnCurrent Lord: Melchid - Spoiler:
The Moose head is the biggest and most prestigious inn in Blackwell castle, it's also the only Inn in the Blackwell Castle. While it may be a little on the "homely" side, the roof barely leaks and the beds are almost bug free. The Moose head is an old and well weathered Inn located near the town square in Blackwell Castle. It has 8 rent-able rooms and a decent courtyard with a stables to the side. It is operated by a single family of serfs known as the Buckwoods. The inn is the primary source of accommodation for visiting travelers and merchants but many of the local residents of Blackwell castle also frequent the establishment of an evening. After the running costs are removed and the King takes his share the Inn generates around 100g per month. The Inns profitability is tied to the population of Blackwell city and the strength and safety of local trade routes. The FurnaceCurrent Lord: Aizen - Spoiler:
The Furnace is rumored to be as old as the mountains themselves. Workers here have converted ore into ingots for countless generations. They have smelted at the behest of Dwarven Lords, tribal Kings, Imperial regents & Kings again. The Furnace is located on the outskirts of Blackwell castle and smelts over 40% of all the ore pulled out of the mountains in the Iron Ridge region. The Furnace is worked by a crew of around 20 serf tradesmen and as Lord of the Furnace you lay claim to 10% of everything that is smelted with in its walls. On average, after your serfs are fed, running costs are removed and the King takes his share, the generated income is around 400g per month. The profitability of the Furnace however, is heavily tied to both the success of the mines and the safety of the trade routes. The MouthCurrent Lord: Aizen - Spoiler:
The wharf district of lake town sees a lot of river trade traffic heading south towards the capital. Plenty of business goes down on the wharves, the river folk have never been overly keen on others getting involved though.
As Lord of the wharf's at the rivers mouth you are responsible for both maintaining and improving the towns docks and also collecting the Kings tax form the ships captains for their use. At any time there will be around 30 fishing vessels and 10 river trading barges docked in this area, either unloading cargo form the south or loading up for the return trip. The Mouth is maned by 15 serfs including the Wharf master who over see the tax collecting and general maintenance. After running costs are removed and the Kings share is take the Mouth generates about 100g per month. The profitability of the Mouth is heavily tied to southern trading and the need for fish from the lake. Fleet Rock Stables Current Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
The Iron Region is home to a breed of sure footed and intelligent mountain ponies. They can be stubborn sons of bitches to train, but make a good quality mounts for those willing. Redwood Hunting ReserveCurrent Lord: Erd - Spoiler:
This sparsely wooded region to the south has been prime game land for countless generations. Every lord of the Iron Ridge has claimed the area as their own, but poaching is always rife.Redwood hunting reserve is a stretch of land roughly 2000 acres in size along the southern most border of the Iron ridge Region. As lord of the reserve you are charged with the protection of the area and its maintenance. It currently hosts a group of 20 serf rangers who act as wardens. There are a few small hunting shacks dotted across the reserve and a main hunting cabin located near its northern edge. There is no Kings tax demanded for the reserve and as its Lord a generous bag limit is awarded to you (a value of around 2000g per year). After feeding the serfs and maintaining the land the reserve can make you around 120g per month. The Old Dwarven MineCurrent Lord: Erd - Spoiler:
Nope, this one is full of Goblins too, just happens to have an old Dwarven statue near the entry. The Old Dwarven Mine is as old as the mountains they say and has been running profitable for as far back as the records span. The volume of gold ebbs and flows (mainly ebbs since a goblin tribe moved in there a decade ago) but the last lord still managed a tidy profit. The Old Dwarven Mines boast some truly ancient main tunnels and drops, carved in the earth by its original owners. These tunnels have survived countless years and many earthquakes and there wide tunnels make a good base point for mining operations. Once the mines running costs are removed the mine generates about 500gp per month. Mungo’s HoleCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
No one is really sure who Mungo was but his name is carved over the main entrance so I guess he was someone of importance. This mine was abandoned over 20 years ago after a fatal cave in, but at one time it was rumored to stretch into much of the eastern mountain range. Riverside Lumber CampCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
Situated on the eastern bank, on the edge of the Fallwood, the Riverside lumber camp has been producing lumber for the Iron region for the last two generations. The Lowlands Tannery Current Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
“Do you smell piss?” The Rolling greens. Current Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
The rolling hills at the foot of the Eastern Mountains have long been the home to tribes of wandering goat herders. It is also the birth place of the old Iron Region saying, “there is more than one way to skin a goat!” Shallow End Oyster FarmCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
Pearls man, fucking pearls. It’s not really an exact science but hey it pays the bills. Plus the oysters aren’t bad eating either if you can stomach the slimy bastards. Royalwell Dry Docks and Boat YardCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
The Dry Docks are locally known as stinky Peats mud pit. Peat and his son have been repairing and making the fishing boats of Royalwell since Peat took over the yard from his father. Peat may be rough but at least he’s slow! As a side note his interesting odder is probably a glandular thing coupled with a complete lack of personal hygiene. The Stony Road InnCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
Located on the old merchant’s road about three days east of Royalwell, this ancient inn is a popular stoping point for travellers and merchants passing through the region. It claims to serve the finest smoked trout in all of Faraway, so far no one has bothered to refute this claim. The Ferryside MillCurrent Lord: King Blackwell - Spoiler:
"Nigga still gotta get his grind on" - NOTORIOUS B.I.G.

General Cactus's presence is having a notable effect on trade in the region. However the Inn is doing well as there are many more troops in town. | |
