That is the best laugh i have had all week son, I'm promoting you to Sargent! " - Brutus Blackwell and the battle of green river“Never let it be said that King Brutus is not generous to those who serve him well!” - King Brutus Blackwell- Spoiler:
Brutus Blackwell made a name for himself as the co-leader of the mercenary unit known as the Iron Bears. He and his half brother, Bold Stoneheart, lead the unit through many successful and profitable campaigns over the past 10 years. Their unit made up mostly of grizzled mountain men, became a feared sight on battlefields across Faraway and many other provinces of the empire.
Brutus’s mother had always told him that he was fathered by the last son of the Blackwell line, an ancient tribal family that ruled the Iron Ridge region prior to the Dol Seroth incursion. After the empires loss of strength, Brutus decided that it was high time he retook the Iron Ridge in his families name and reclaimed his rightful rulership. With the help of his Iron Bears he quickly smashed through what little defences the local imperial steward had and claimed their fortress as his own, renaming it Blackwell Castle and declaring it the seat of his new Kingdom.
It was less then a day after claiming the fort that Brutus and his half-brother Bold and their falling out. There are many different stories about what the actual cause of the argument was, but it is said that Bold wanted equal leadership over the fledgling kingdom, as it had been in the Iron Bears, but Brutus claimed only he had the right to rule.
Brutus’s reputation is that of a fierce and intimidating warrior, slow to anger but unstoppable once momentum is built. In times of peace he is know for his jovial nature and his love for “manly sport”, such as hunting and gladiatorial games. He doesn’t have the sharp wit that Bold does or the finer grasp of more complicated strategy, but enjoys song and dance none the less plus the occasional game of chess.
